The allrounder, who has scored 1,886 runs and taken 34 wickets in 35 first-class appearances, has been released from New Zealand's touring party for the fixture
Rachin Ravindra has joined Durham on a short-term red-ball contract ahead of the club’s LV= Insurance County Championship clash with Worcestershire.
The 22-year-old allrounder has been released from New Zealand’s touring party for the fixture and will provide cover for Keegan Petersen. The South African batter left Durham for personal reasons earlier this month.
Since making his debut for New Zealand A in 2018, Ravindra has scored 1,886 runs at 36.26 and taken 34 wickets in 35 first-class matches. 73 of those runs and three wickets have come in three Test appearances for New Zealand.
He is Durham’s second new arrival in the past week, with Middlesex’s Nathan Sowter arriving on loan for the duration of the T20 Blast.
Durham’s director of cricket, Marcus North, said: "Rachin is a talented allrounder and we are looking forward to having him join us for this week’s County Championship fixture.
"We currently have four players on England duty, which is great for Durham, but we are also suffering with some injuries therefore it is great to have been able to bring in Rachin to cover during this red ball period."
