RCB have retained Ashish Nehra as a bowling mentor

Ashish Nehra has avoided the coaching cull at Royal Challengers Bangalore after being retained for 2019.

The India international joined the franchise last year but has seen the entire senior backroom team - Daniel Vettori, Trent Woodhill and Andrew McDonald - moved on by the team's owners in recent weeks.

Gary Kirsten has since been drafted in as coach and now it has been confirmed the Nehra will work below him in the next edition of the Indian Premier League.

"I had the privilege to join the coaching team of RCB last season and feel very passionately about the team," Nehra said.

"I want to thank the team management for considering me in a leadership position with the franchise and look forward for the successful seasons ahead."
