Northamptonshire are saying goodbye to Ben Duckett

Ben Duckett is leaving Northamptonshire and signing for Nottinghamshire on a three-year deal.

The batsman, 23, will make an initial loan move to Trent Bridge for the remainder of the season before turning the switch permanent in the autumn.

Yorkshire had previously shown an interest in the England international.

The move brings to an end Duckett's 12-year association with Wantage Road.

"I’ve had 12 fantastic years at Northants, who I can’t thank enough for all the support and success experienced in recent seasons." he said.

"I felt I needed a new chapter, a new challenge to stretch myself and get the most out of my game. Trent Bridge is an incredible ground and the squad has an unbelievable amount of talent.

"I want to push myself, learn as much as a I can test myself against some of the best players in the country. I want to focus on becoming the best player I can be, and believe Nottinghamshire is the best place for me to do that. I can’t wait to get started.

"I’m excited to joining up with the squad at the end of the season and call a place such as Trent Bridge my home.

"There’s such a talented squad here and I can’t wait to test myself against some of the best players in the country.

"The club has had a good season so far in reaching the knockout stages in both white-ball competitions and going well in the Championship, and I hope I can help achieve even more next year."
