Backroom rejig afoot at The Oval as bowling coach moves on "to pursue other opportunities and interests"
Stuart Barnes has left his position as bowling coach of Surrey
Surrey have announced the departure of bowling coach Stuart Barnes after five years at The Oval.
Barnes, who has worked under three head coaches at the county, has left "to pursue other opportunities and interests", according to a statement.
Barnes said: "The last five years have been an incredible experience and something I am immensely proud of.
"I have had the pleasure of working with some truly great people, however, now is the right time for me to move on."
Vikram Solanki has become assistant coach at The Oval
Surrey director of cricket Alec Stewart said: “I’d like to thank Barnesy for all his effort, hard work and dedication to the job and wish him all the very best with his new challenges."
Vikram Solanki has been promoted to assistant coach to Michael di Venuto as part of a backroom shake-up.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my transition from playing cricket into coaching," said Solanki, the former England international who made over 1,000 runs for his country in white-ball cricket.
"I am very excited by the prospect of continuing to work with the impressive and talented group, players and support staff, at Surrey."
