Mulani joins last season’s runners-up as a short-term Covid replacement for Axar Patel while Joshi fills in for the injured Shreyas Iyer
Indian allrounder Shams Mulani has joined Delhi Capitals on a short-term deal for the 2021 Indian Premier League.
The 24-year old will serve as a replacement for Axar Patel, who is currently self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19.
Under regulation 6.1, Mulani, who has 24 wickets in 25 T20 appearances, is contracted to Delhi until Axar recovers and can re-enter the bio-secure environment. This will be his first experience of the IPL.
Delhi have also signed Anirudha Joshi as a replacement for Shreyas Iyer. Iyer, who captained the side to last season’s final, was ruled out of the tournament after sustaining a partially dislocated shoulder during India’s recent ODI series against England.
Joshi, a middle-order batsman and right-arm off-spinner, has 420 T20 runs to his name, including two half-centuries, and six wickets. He has previously been a squad member for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals.
The duo will be available for Delhi's next fixture against Punjab Kings on Sunday, April 18.
