Where is the match being played?

Every game in the 2021 Caribbean Premier League is being held at Warner Park on St Kitts, in an effort to minimise the Covid-19 risk to the tournament.

Who’s got the form?

There's not a lot to go on this year, given this is the first match of the competition.

In the 2020 tournament, these two sides finished in the bottom two places in the group stages.

Barbados - then named the Tridents - won three of their 10 matches to end up fifth.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots had an even worse time of it, claiming just one victory on the way to propping up the standings.

There's been enough change to encourage more optimism this year, but both teams will be desperate for a change of fortunes.

Who to watch?

Barbados Royals batsman Glenn Phillips is ranked 17th in the T20 Player Index and has a terrific Caribbean Premier League record, having scored 1,323 runs for Jamaica Tallawahs.

Oshane Thomas has also made the same journey from Tallawahs to Royals and will be hoping to return to his best form that previously earned him an IPL stint.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have a new-look side, starring Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo. Fabian Allen missed the tournament in 2020 after missing his charter flight into Trinidad and Tobago, while new leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed is a stalwart of the competition and took 13 wickets for Trinbago Knight Riders last time around.

Paul van Meekeren is a surprising choice as an overseas player; he spent last winter working for Uber Eats after the cancellation of the T20 World Cup left him without work.

Asif Ali is an intriguing recruit despite his mediocre performances in 2020 for Jamaica Tallawahs.
