Oliver Hannon-Dalby has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Warwickshire until at least the end of the 2023 season.

The 31-year old has established himself as one of the leading domestic red-ball bowlers over the last two seasons, taking 69 wickets at an average of 23.94 in 17 matches.

Arriving from Yorkshire for the 2013 season, Hannon-Dalby helped the Bears win the T20 Blast in 2014 and the Royal London One-Day Cup in 2016 before receiving his county cap in 2019.

Following his stellar performances with the ball in 2020, the bowler claimed four honours at Warwickshire’s end of season awards – including both Members’ Player and Player’s Player of the Year – and was named one of The Cricketer’s Lockdown Heroes after supporting the food storage and distribution hub at Edgbaston.

Commenting on his contract extension, Hannon-Dalby said: "I’m chuffed to bits to put pen to paper and to sign for the Bears for an extra two years.

"I would have bitten anyone’s hand when I joined the club in 2013 if they were to say that I would be here for at least 10 years.

"It’s a very special club to be part of and I can’t thank the members, players, coaches and staff enough for making me feel so welcome here; it made it very easy for Birmingham to quickly become my home.

"We tasted some great success in my early years with the club and we’ve got a very exciting crop of players coming through who can push us towards more trophies in the near future. I’m very excited to know that I will be part of that."

Meanwhile, Warwickshire’s director of cricket, Paul Farbrace, added: "Having been initially thought of as a white ball specialist, Olly took his chance to lead our attack in 2019, in difficult circumstances, and he hasn’t looked back.

"He has quickly built a reputation as one of the best red ball bowlers on the county circuit and he has become a leader who always spends time supporting our younger fast bowlers.

"It’s also a measure of him as a man that he spends a huge amount of time giving to the club off the field, whether that’s through coaching, our community work, acting as the PCA representative and even co-hosting the Bears PodBlast on BBC WM."
