Yorkshire have signed Shadab Khan for the T20 Blast.

The 23-year-old allrounder will be available for the first five matches of the group stage before returning for the final six games.

Fellow Pakistan international Haris Rauf will also be available for the opening five matches of the tournament.

Despite his young age, Khan is a highly experienced T20 player, scoring 1,695 runs and taking 217 wickets in 188 career matches.

64 of those appearances have come for Pakistan, yielding 275 runs and 73 wickets, while he has also enjoyed stints in the PSL, Big Bash, CPL and Bangladesh Premier League. This will be his first experience of English domestic cricket.

Possessing a T20 strike rate of 137.13, Khan will add valuable firepower Yorkshire’s batting line-up and if selected to bat in the top four – his regular position for Islamabad United – he should be able to lay a solid platform for the likes of Harry Brook and Jordan Thompson to explode off.

With the ball, he is handy additional spin option to support Dom Bess and, when available, Adil Rashid.

Commenting on joining Yorkshire, Khan said: "I’m really excited to be heading to Yorkshire for the Blast. Ever since I started my cricketing journey it has always been a dream of mine to play county cricket. It will be made even more special with me being able to play alongside my good friend, Haris.

"I can’t wait to meet my team-mates and get going."

Darren Gough, Yorkshire’s managing director of cricket, added: "I have been watching the team from afar over the past four or five years and I think that we have lacked a couple of things that I would like to see. I would like our one day game to go in a different direction.

"Shadab Khan is someone who can bat at the top, bat in the middle order and hits the ball a long way. He is also an unbelievable spinner. You can imagine Shadab, Adil Rashid and Dom Bess bowling together, giving us a fantastic spin department."
