William Porterfield has joined Gloucestershire’s coaching staff as a consultant coach.
The former Ireland captain announced his retirement from international and representative cricket on June 16, bringing his 16-year playing career to an end.
During the period, he was capped 310 times by Ireland, scoring over 9,500 runs and captaining his country in their maiden Test match back in 2018. Across his career, he scored over 20,000 runs.
Porterfield is no stranger to Gloucestershire fans, having made 81 appearances for the club between 2008 and 2010.
The 37-year-old has been with the club for a number of weeks already and is set to continue in the position until the end of the season.
