Tom Lammonby has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension with Somerset, which will keep him at Taunton until at least the end of 2025.

The 22-year-old has made 78 appearances for Somerset since debuting in 2019, scoring 2,185 runs and taking 25 wickets.

In 33 first-class outings, he has amassed 1,536 runs at 28.98, including five centuries and four half-centuries, and 11 wickets. In 2022, he was ever-present in the County Championship, scoring 685 runs (one century, two half-centuries).

With the white ball, he has scored 649 runs at a strike rate of 153.06 and taken 14 wickets in the T20 Blast.

His performances in the shortest format have earned him contracts in the Big Bash, PSL and The Hundred as well as a spot in England Lions' ODI squad to face Sri Lanka A later in January. He is yet to make his List A bow.

Commenting on committing his future to Somerset, Lammonby said: "Somerset is a club that is close to my heart and it's the place where I want to be. We've got a good coaching set up and a lot of great lads in the squad. Hopefully, the next few years can be successful for us, and we can bring home a few trophies.

"The support that we get across the south-west is unrivalled and it's something that myself and the rest of the players all cherish.

"I'm a local lad and I'm delighted to be staying."

Director of cricket, Andy Hurry, added: "Everyone connected with the club should be delighted that Tom has pledged his future to Somerset. He burst onto the scene in 2020 and it was incredible to see such a young man dominate experienced attacks in the way that he did. Since that breakthrough season, he has also become a key element of both our red-ball and T20 squads.

"He has worked extremely hard on his game over the last few years and that hard work has seen him earn a call up to the England Lions squad and also seen him feature in global franchise white-ball tournaments.

"Tom is a naturally gifted cricketer, and we are excited to see his development continue over the next few years. He has all the attributes required to make it to the top in the game and hopefully he can play a major role in the future success of Somerset."
