Tom Hartley has targetted ending Lancashire's wait for a major trophy after committing to the club for another two years.

The 24-year-old pathway product took 26 wickets via his left-arm spin across the County Championship and T20 Blast to reach 100 senior scalps across formats and force his way into the England reckoning.

After making his international debut in the Ireland one-day international series in September, he was handed a maiden Test call-up for the upcoming India series which begins next week.

Despite several near-misses in recent seasons, Lancs have not claimed silverware since the 2015 Blast when they overcame Northamptonshire Steelbacks.

That spell includes finishing as runners-up in County Championship Division One in 2017 and 2022, returning from three Blast Finals Day appearances empty-handed and losing the One-Day Cup final to Kent two years ago.

Now contracted until the end of the 2026 season, Hartley is making ending that wait a priority.

"I have been really pleased with the opportunities to play regularly in the Vitality Blast and County Championship for Lancs during the last few years which has led to making my England ODI debut and then receiving my first call-up for the Test match squad," he said.

"As a squad at Lancashire, we are all excited for the new season with an opportunity to work under a new head coach in Dale (Benkenstein) - as we look to push on and achieve our ultimate aims of bringing trophies back to the club."
