Brad Currie and Harrison Ward have both signed T20 contracts with Sussex.

Bowler Currie made headlines in the summer when he took a fabulous catch, diving full-length on the midwicket boundary to dismiss Hampshire's Benny Howell, in a Blast match where he also took 3 for 27 as Sussex won by six runs.

The 24-year-old has also made six T20I appearances for Scotland, taking 12 international wickets, including career-best 20-over figures of 5 for 13 against Ireland in July.

The left-armer, who bats right-handed, first joined Sussex in 2022, taking 6 for 93 against Middlesex on his debut at Lord's in the County Championship, as well as taking 12 wickets in eight Royal London Cup appearances in the same year.

Currie said: "I'm very happy to still be representing this great club and I am thankful for the opportunities this new deal will hopefully present to me. I hope I can create and be a part of some more magical nights for the fans and the team in 2024."

Left-handed batter Ward re-signs for the county after scoring 165 T20 runs from the top of the order for Sussex in 2023.

The 24-year-old also hit two half centuries in his seven Blast appearances last term. "We showed towards the end of the campaign that we have a squad that is more than capable of qualifying for the quarter-finals," he said.

The renewals mark a change in tack from Sussex, who had previously looked to move away from signing players on single-format contracts, following an era where several players were effectively on white-ball-only deals. Ravi Bopara, the county's Blast captain in 2023, has since left the club.
