The former West Indies captain has been forced to cut short his overseas spell at the Kia Oval due to injury
Kieron Pollard has been ruled out of the rest of Surrey's T20 Blast campaign with a knee problem.
The 35-year-old suffered the issue early in the campaign and underwent a bout of surgery on Tuesday (June 21) morning, ruling him out for between four and six weeks.
Pollard scored 99 runs and took a single wicket in six matches for Surrey, who started the campaign with eight wins and a no result from their first nine games to go top of the South Group.
There is no indication yet whether the club are pursuing a replacement for the end of the group stage and beyond.
It remains to be seen whether Pollard will be fit for the start of his spell with London Spirit in the men's Hundred. They kick-off their campaign against Oval Invincibles on August 4.
"This is hugely frustrating as we have been a dominant force and I felt I was part of something special," said Pollard.
"But I wish the lads all the best for the rest of the campaign whilst I get myself fit and firing again."
Director of cricket Alec Stewart added: "We are disappointed to lose a player of Kieron’s quality and wish him a speedy recovery."
