The moral of the story at the Oval? Don't judge a game before it's been covered
Ben Geddes has been handed a two-year professional deal with Surrey.
The 19-year-old batter has impressed for the second XI, hitting half-centuries in both Championship matches this season.
In all, Geddes has played eight times for the Surrey second string - he first represented them at Under-9 level - and is the current captain at Ashtead CC.
"I’m absolutely buzzing," said the teenager. "I remember coming to games at The Kia Oval and watching as a young kid.

"I started playing for Surrey at age nine so to sign my first professional contract at 19 is really a dream come true. I can’t wait to get stuck in this summer."
Director of cricket Alec Stewart added: "One of the nicer parts of this job is awarding young players who have come through our own system their very first professional contracts.
"Ben has earned his contract with the potential and progress he has shown which has been further developed while training with the squad and playing in the second team. I’m looking forward to seeing him perform over the coming years."
