The academy graduate made his senior debut in the One-Day Cup, making eight appearances
Sam Young will leave Somerset at the end of the 2021 season.
The 21-year-old academy graduate and former Millfield School pupil made his senior debut in this year's One-Day Cup.
Top-order batter Young went on to feature eight times, scoring a disappointing 73 runs with a top score of 25.
Young, who plays club cricket for Bath, is hopeful of picking up a deal for next season after leaving Taunton.
"The last two years have been a really good experience and I’ve learned a huge amount," he said upon confirmation of his departure. "I’ve been at the club since I was 10 and it’s been one of the best experiences of my life.
"Hopefully, I will be able to get an opportunity elsewhere. I want to continue to be a professional cricketer because that’s what I’ve wanted all my life."
Director of cricket Andy Hurry added: "From his time on the pathway, through to the present day, Sam has been a real pleasure to work with.
"During a period where there is significant competition for places, first XI opportunities would be limited moving forward and we, therefore, wish him every success in his future endeavours."
