With Renshaw returning to Australia in August, the Taunton club have moved to bolster their batting resources for the final four LV= Insurance County Championship games of the campaign
Imam-ul-Haq will join Somerset for the final four LV= Insurance County Championship matches of the season as an overseas replacement for Matt Renshaw.
Renshaw, who has not played for the club since May after being called up for the Australia A tour of Sri Lanka, will return home in August to commence pre-season training with Queensland.
Subject to obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and visa, Imam will arrive for the climax to the campaign in September as Somerset attempt to stave off relegation to Division Two.
The left-hander, the nephew of iconic Pakistan batter Inzamam-ul-Haq, has played 14 Tests, 52 one-day internationals and two T20s for his country.

His first-class record is punctuated by 3,502 runs at 41.69 with nine centuries.
And his recent form is encouraging, with five fifties and two centuries in his last seven innings across the formats, and he'll be hoping to bring that into his maiden spell in county cricket.
But in 2018 in his only Tests in England, he registered scores of 4, 18*, 0 and 34.
"I have heard a lot about the quality of Somerset from Babar Azam and Azhar Ali," he said.
"It is a club with a good reputation and great support. I look forward to representing the county and contributing to some good wins in the County Championship.

"English county cricket will be a new challenge for me, but it is a challenge that I am relishing."
Renshaw had been among the bright sparks in a Somerset batting line-up that has once again flattered to deceive.
In five matches, the left-hander struck 371 runs at 46.37 and remains one of only three players to record a red-ball century this season.
Somerset sit ninth in Division One, 20 points adrift of safety with seven games remaining.
Director of cricket Andy Hurry added: "To be able to bring in an established Test match player for the final County Championship matches of the season is a coup for us with so much international cricket being played during this important period."
