Lancashire seamer Jack Blatherwick has signed a new contract at the county, becoming the fourth Red Rose player this winter to extend their stay.

Blatherwick follows fellow bowler Tom Bailey, as well as Josh Bohannon and Luke Wells, in agreeing a fresh deal.

The former Nottinghamshire man will remain at the county until the end of the 2025 campaign, offsetting the release of experienced seamer Richard Gleeson and the departure of allrounder Danny Lamb to Sussex. Matt Parkinson has also moved on to Kent, while Worcestershire have signed Rob Jones.

Blatherwick has played 23 times for the county since arriving ahead of the 2021 summer, picking up 37 wickets in the process.

"I am excited to have signed with Lancs for two more seasons and I am looking forward working hard over the winter and during pre-season and staking my claim for regular first-team cricket in all three formats next season," he said.

"I have really enjoyed my time at Emirates Old Trafford so far, we have a great group of lads with lots of talent in the squad and I want to play my part in bringing success back to the club over the next few years."

He will be looking to impress a new head coach, following Glen Chapple's exit in September. No replacement has been confirmed yet, though Mark Chilton remains director of cricket performance.

"We are pleased that Jack has extended his contract with us for another two seasons and look forward to his continued development and building on the progress that he has made since joining us in late 2020," added Chilton.

"Jack made an impressive T20 debut last summer and also appeared more regularly in the County Championship and Metro Bank One Day Cup which will have provided him with an important level of experience to take into the next couple of years."
