Middlesex opener Sam Robson has signed a contract extension with the club.

The 32-year-old's new deal will keep him at Lord's until the end of the 2024 season.

The prolific red-ball batsman, who joined Middlesex as an 18-year-old, has amassed 10,082 first-class runs since his debut in 2009, with 22 centuries and four double hundreds to his name.

Following a stellar run of form in 2013, in which he comfortably passed 1,000 runs, Robson was called up for his England Test debut the following year.

A brilliant 127 against Sri Lanka at Headingley remains his highest score for England in seven Tests and, following a fine 2021 season, supporters have clamoured for his return to the international stage.

Robson said: "I am delighted to have re-signed with Middlesex.

"I signed with the club as an 18-year-old and have thoroughly enjoyed calling Lord's my home and playing for one of the most famous and well renowned domestic cricket teams in the world.

"I feel like I have kept improving as a player in recent years and am looking forward to what will hopefully be a successful time ahead for both the club and myself."

Head of men's performance, Alan Coleman added: "Robbo has been one of the leading domestic four-day batters in recent years.

"He offers us stability, consistency and a lot of batting quality at the top of our order, and we can't wait to watch him in action again in 2022 and beyond."
