Olly Stone is set to leave Warwickshire and sign for Nottinghamshire but may well be forced out of The Hundred by injury.

Stone, the 28-year-old fast bowler, is understood to have rejected a new deal at Edgbaston in favour of a more attractive one at Trent Bridge.

While Stone's injury issues are well known, he remains one of the quickest bowlers in England and has an excellent record (he averages 19.40 with the ball) in his brief Test career.

He bowled quickly for Birmingham in this year's Vitality Blast and retains hopes of playing all formats of the game.

He may well have played his last cricket in the 2022 season, though.

He sustained a finger injury while fielding in a 2nd XI match in recent days and is awaiting the results of a scan to determine the severity. It seems there is every chance he will miss The Hundred. Stone was due to play for Birmingham Phoenix in the competition.

The England international has suffered three stress fractures in the lower back, the most recent of which occurred just over a year ago and kept him out of cricket for the best part of 12 months.
