Oli Slipper has been confirmed as the next chair of Surrey CCC, taking over the role on October 1, 2023.

He replaces Richard Thompson, who left the club last year to become chair of the ECB. Martin Eadon, previously the club's honorary treasurer, has been serving as interim chair since September 2022.

Slipper came through the age-groups at Surrey before signing professional terms with the county in 1994. He went on to spend two seasons in the 2nd XI.

Since then, he has carved out a career as a sports, media and technology entrepreneur and is currently the executive chair of Pitch International, a sports marketing agency.

He sat on Surrey's general committee between 2013 and 2017 as well as spending four years on the Surrey management board.

Following his election on June 5, he has stepped down as chair of Oval Invincibles with immediate effect.

"I am incredibly proud and honoured to have been selected as the new chair of Surrey CCC. It's a very exciting time to be taking on this role. Our men's team are the reigning county champions with a squad full of home-grown talent, women's cricket is going from strength to strength and our membership is at an all-time high," Slipper said.

"I am also dedicated to continuing the outstanding community work Surrey is doing to make cricket as popular, inclusive, and diverse as possible. I look forward to continuing the outstanding work of my predecessors to ensure Surrey and The Kia Oval remain at the pinnacle of domestic and international cricket."

Eadon added: "I am delighted that Oli will be our next chair. We conducted a very thorough process and had applications from a number of excellent candidates. Oli has huge passion for the game, deep expertise in sports content and media, and the personal skills to lead our club through the opportunities and challenges facing cricket over the next few years."
