Carter signed a new one-year contract in November, with a white-ball focus, but he has not played for the county at any level since last September
Nottinghamshire off-spinner Matt Carter has left the county by mutual consent.
Carter, 27, spent nine years at the club. He signed a new one-year contract in November, with a white-ball focus, but he has not played for the county at any level since last September.
"We would like to thank Matt for his nine years of service and wish him all the best for the future," read a statement on the county's website.
Carter was part of the Notts Outlaws side that won the T20 Blast in 2020, and he gained a reputation as a wily off-spinner who used his tall frame.
