Durham have added South African seamer Miguel Pretorius to their ranks on a short-term red-ball deal.

Pretorius teams up with the north-east outfit for three County Championship matches, starting with the clash with Gloucestershire from Monday (July 10).

The 28-year-old arrives in Chester-le-Street for his first taste of county cricket, bolstering a side which currently sits top of Division Two.

"I am very excited to join Durham, I can't wait to get going," he said. "It has been a dream of mine to play county cricket and to get the chance to do it for Durham is even better."

Director of cricket Marcus North said: "He is a proven performer in South Africa and his success back home has seen him earn an international call up for his national side."

Pretorius will also be available for the away Championship matches at Derbyshire and Yorkshire during his spell with the club.

The county currently have a 36-point lead on second-placed Leicestershire, having won four of their right red-ball games this summer.
