Michael Burgess has signed a one-year contract extension with Warwickshire which will keep him at Edgbaston until the end of the 2024 season.

The 29-year-old joined the club on loan from Sussex in 2019 and has gone on to make 102 appearances for the Bears across all formats.

A particular asset in red-ball cricket, he has amassed 2,094 runs at 31.72 in 47 first-class matches for the club, 607 of which came during the 2021 County Championship-winning campaign. Burgess spent this season's T20 Blast on loan at Sussex but is hungry for "future success in all formats" with Warwickshire.

He said: "Since arriving, Edgbaston has become home and I'm proud of what we've achieved in recent years.

"Winning the double in 2021 was my career highlight and I hope we can keep pushing for future success in all formats this year and in the near future."

Head coach Mark Robinson added: "Michael has become a valuable member of the squad and I'm pleased he's extended his stay with the club.

"Michael is a very good 'keeper, who also adds power to our line-up, and I know he's extremely keen to help bring more silverware to Warwickshire."
