The leg-spinner has signed on for an additional 12 months until the end of the 2023 season, following an up and down campaign at the County Ground
Derbyshire have tied down leg-spinner Mattie McKiernan to a new one-year contract.
The 28-year-old will remain at the County Ground until at least the end of the 2023 season.
McKiernan claimed 17 wickets as Mickey Arthur's Falcons reached the T20 Blast quarter-finals.
But in that last-eight clash against Somerset he went wicketless for 82 runs from his four overs - recording the most expensive figures in T20 history.
In the ongoing One-Day Cup, the Manchester-native has come to the fore with the bat scoring 142 runs at 71 in Derbyshire's opening three games.
From four LV= Insurance County Championship matches in 2022, McKiernan has taken four wickets and is expected to play a role in the club's attempt to win promotion from Division Two when the competition returns in September.

"This has been my best season with Derbyshire to date and I feel the clarity I've been given has helped with that," said McKiernan.
"Mickey's project for Derbyshire is ambitious and it’s amazing to be a part of, so for me I just want to keep progressing and continue to contribute to the club."
Arthur added: "Mattie has shown real development this season, and he's performed well whenever we’ve called on him in first-class cricket, while his wickets tally in the T20 Blast was crucial to our progression.
"The key now is for Mattie to find that consistency across the formats, something we're starting to witness as we head into the One-Day Cup, because his natural ability with bat and ball is clear for all to see."
