Essex all-rounder Matt Coles has joined Northamptonshire on loan for a month.
The 29-year-old, who began his career at Kent, will remain with the county until July 11.
The right-arm seamer has played 112 first-class matches, taking 349 wickets in red-ball cricket. After an initial four-year stint with Kent, he briefly joined Hampshire – initially on loan – before rejoining the Canterbury county. He then left for Essex in 2018, where he signed on a two-year contract.
Coles also comes with some pedigree with the bat, having made a first-class hundred against Yorkshire in 2012 – a landmark he reached with a six.

Northants assistant Coach Phil Rowe explained that Coles’ experience in red-ball cricket would make him a welcome addition to his squad.
“He’s a talented all-round cricketer, he’ll bring competition for places and cover to the squad,” Rowe said.
“He’s a player we’ve admired for a number of years, he’s a big character and brings a big personality, we’re looking forward to having that in the dressing room.”
He makes his debut in the County Championship game that begins on Monday against Durham.
