Laurie Evans is set to resume his career after his playing suspension was lifted.

Evans has missed six months of cricket after failing an anti-doping test during The Hundred last year. He has always maintained his innocence.

The batsman has been prevented from playing since, with his most recent appearance coming on September 3, and he relinquished contracts in the Big Bash and T10 League over the winter.

However, The Cricketer understands that, in an unexpected development, Evans is now free to return to action - as first reported by ESPNcricinfo - although the charges relating to his failed test remain.

He will face a hearing on the matter later in the year.

Evans has a white-ball contract with Surrey, and was on the books of Manchester Originals in The Hundred in 2022.

He was not retained by the Originals, but could find a route back into The Hundred via the draft, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday (March 23).
