Kent are on the lookout for a new batting coach following the departure of Ryan ten Doeschate.

The former Essex captain only took on the role at the start of 2022 after ending a fine playing career.

But it was confirmed in November that he was joining Kolkata Knight Riders as the franchise's fielding coach, aligning him closely with long-time former county teammate James Foster, who has become KKR's assistant coach.

The pair are both at the ILT20 but working for different teams, with Foster in charge at Desert Vipers and ten Doeschate working with Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, an offshoot of the IPL franchise.

And The Cricketer understands the former Dutch international is no longer connected with Kent.

With ten Doeschate's help, Kent won the Royal London Cup and remained in the top division of the County Championship in 2022, with Ben Compton, Jordan Cox and Daniel Bell-Drummond all scoring more than 900 first-class runs.

An advert for a new Kent batting coach, which is due to close on January 23, describes the role as being "responsible for working with the head coach to identify and develop the best professional batters within Kent to create a batting unit capable of winning matches for Kent County Cricket Club in all formats".

Ten Doeschate took over the job at Kent from Michael Yardy when Yardy returned to Sussex to become the county's academy director. He has since moved on to take over as England Young Lions head coach.
