GEORGE DOBELL - EXCLUSIVE: The appointments follow that of Ottis Gibson as head coach and form the basis of the new-look Yorkshire setup
Yorkshire are expected to announce the appointment of Kabir Ali and Jim Troughton as assistant coaches in the coming days.
The appointments follow that of Ottis Gibson as head coach and form the basis of the new-look Yorkshire setup.
Troughton has previously worked as head coach at Warwickshire and, after that, as a batting consultant at Somerset. He was also shortlisted for the role of Middlesex head coach.
Kabir Ali during his playing days with Lancashire
Kabir is currently fulfilling a short-term role as bowling consultant at Warwickshire and has experience working in various T20 leagues, including the IPL, around the world.
Both men enjoyed brief international and long domestic careers.
It is probably more relevant that both are hugely popular within the game and seen as ideal figures to deal with what could, at times, could be an ambivalent reaction from any players and supporters who remain disgruntled at the manner in which the previous coaching regime was sacked following revelations connected to the Azeem Rafiq scandal.
There were many high-profile enquiries for the roles from around the world.
Those interested included Allan Donald, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis.
