Anderson has been included in a Lancashire County Championship squad for the first time this season as the Red Roses take on Nottinghamshire tomorrow
James Anderson has been included in Lancashire's County Championship squad to face Nottinghamshire at Southport & Birkdale CC.
The game starts tomorrow (June 30) and will be Anderson's first game of the season for the Red Roses and the first since it was announced he will retire from international cricket this summer.
The veteran seamer last played for Lancashire in May 2023 in a draw against Somerset, in which he picked up two first innings wickets of Steven Davies and Tom Abell.

Anderson, 41, announced that England's Test match against the West Indies at Lord's, which starts on July 10, will be his last.
The all-time England great has 700 wickets during his illustrious 187-Test international career and he will end it at the same venue where he made his Zimbabwe in 2003.
His last game of cricket was against India on March 10 at Dharamsala so it will be a welcome return to action for Anderson. Following his retirement announcement, he said: "Some days I wake up and wish I was not retiring."
He is added to a Lancs side who have not enjoyed the best start to their Championship campaign and registered just their second win of the season last week over Kent by an innings and 83 runs. The team now sit third from the bottom of Division One.

The game will likely be an opportunity to see Anderson work in tandem with Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon. It is also the first time overseas spinner Chris Green has been selected in a Lancashire red-ball squad this season after featuring in the blast.
However, they will be without Saqib Mahmood and Luke Wood, who are being rested for this contest to manage their workloads this summer.
Their opponents Nottinghamshire have only one win so far this season but due to a higher number of draws, they sit five points and two places above their opponents in the table.
While his statement did not mention his county cricket future specifically, this first game of the season will mark the start of a farewell for many fans.
