Cricket's route back to normality: The challenges facing the sport in 2021

T20 Blast and Royal London Cup dates confirmed as 2021 men's county schedule is completed

Nottinghamshire have confirmed seamer Jake Ball has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

The agreement keeps the England international at Trent Bridge until at least the end of the 2023 season.

Ball played a pivotal role in Notts Outlaws winning last season's T20 Blast title, taking a competition-best 19 wickets during the run.

That streak of form was enough to force his way back into the England reckoning - he was a reserve in South Africa and will occupy a similar role for the five-match India T20 series - and win himself a Big Bash League contract with Sydney Sixers.

"I spent a lot of time reflecting on the two years I’d had, put it to bed, and last season was about getting my love for the game back," said Ball, who made his Notts debut in 2009.

"It took a huge amount of work last winter to get my bowling where it needed to be, and having the chance to work closely with one of the best around in Kevin Shine helped me a lot.

"Winning a trophy last season for the people of Notts, in the midst of what’s been a tremendously difficult time for everyone, was extra special.

"Hopefully we’ll have our members and supporters back in the ground next year, so the incentive for being successful in all forms of the game will be just as high again."

Head coach Peter Moores added: "Jake’s going into the next phase of his career on the back of a 2020 in which he not only got back to his best, he moved his game on and got better.

"He’s been part of the setup at Trent Bridge for so long and he’s such a popular figure that everybody within the club keenly feels his highs and lows.

"He’s on a high right now, and we all know how dangerous a fully fit and firing Jake Ball can be."
