The 38-year-old's deal was due to expire at the end of the season but he will remain at Taunton for the 2023 campaign
Somerset have confirmed that fast-bowler Jack Brooks has signed a new 12-month contract.
The 38-year-old joined Somerset from Yorkshire in 2019 and his deal was due to expire at the end of the domestic season.
However, he has agreed to terms that will see him stay at the club for a further 12 months.
Making his first-class debut in 2009 for Nottinghamshire, Brooks has taken 510 wickets in 145 first-class matches.
Signing for Somerset at the start of the 2019 season, Brooks has been an integral part of the team, taking 85 scalps across the formats.
Brooks said: "I'm delighted. I've put a lot of physical and emotional energy into my cricket over the last 12 months.
"I feel like I'm having an impact on games and am really looking forward to doing it again next year.

"I think we have unfinished business as a team. This is a very competitive squad which is one of the reasons I was desperate to stay. We push each other on and the aim is to compete for trophies."
Brook took five wickets and recorded an economy rate of 8.95 as Somerset reached T20 Blast Finals Day, eventually losing to eventual-winners Hampshire in the semi-finals in yet another near-miss.
Director of cricket Andy Hurry added: "It's been great to observe Jack's determination over the last year. Having a bowler of Jack's experience adds to the depth we will need to compete for trophies across the formats in 2023.
"He still demonstrates a huge hunger and desire to win and develop, and everyone has observed this year how much it means to him when he impacts results with his performances with the ball."
