Worcestershire have bolstered their seam resources ahead of the County Championship clash with Leicestershire by signing Jack Brooks on a short-term loan.
Brooks will make the move from Somerset for the match against the Foxes, which is scheduled to get under way on Thursday (May 17).
The 38-year-old featured in Somerset's game against Lancashire earlier this season, but has still been given permission to make the temporary switch by the West Country county's management.
"We feel that is important for Jack to be playing the highest level of competitive cricket he can, and with 1st XI Championship opportunities limited for him at this time, this County Championship opportunity fits really well for both Jack and the club's needs right now," Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry said.
Brooks, who will turn 39 next month, has a wealth of first-class experience over a long career.
Worcestershire have turned to the veteran following a series of injuries to their young seamers. Josh Tongue (side strain), Dillon Pennington (hamstring) and Pat Brown (groin) are all missing for the Pears.
"We are down to four seamers, and Jack Brooks has got a lot of experience and is ideal for helping fill the gap we have at present," Paul Pridgeon - the chair of the Worcestershire steering group - said.
"He has a lot of experience, has won Championship titles, and we’re confident he’ll do a good job."
Worcestershire go into the game sitting fifth in Division Two, with one win from their first five matches.
Somerset, minus Brooks, go to Middlesex in Division One.
