England Women's captain Heather Knight has been added to Somerset's board as an advisor.
Knight, who captained her country to World Cup glory in 2017, is an intriguing addition at an opportune moment, with Somerset having won the tender for one of the eight tier-one women's teams set to come into play for 2025 and beyond.
Somerset are one of three co-host first-class counties involved in the running of Western Storm, for whom Knight plays her regional cricket.
"This appointment enables us to utilise the knowledge and skills of one of the most respected people within, not just the women's game, but the game as a whole," said Somerset chief executive Gordon Hollins.

"With Somerset being awarded tier-one women's status, there has never been a more important time for us to ensure that we are at the forefront of the women's game, and there is nobody better equipped to aid us with this progression than the England captain.
"Heather's role will not be limited to women's cricket, and we feel that she is perfectly placed to help us to develop, evolve and plan for the future."
Knight, originally from Plymouth, led Western Storm to two Kia Super League titles in a previous era for the women's domestic game. She is also one of two vice-chairs of the Professional Cricketers' Association.
