Gloucestershire have signed Middlesex seamer Ethan Bamber on a month-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old, who represented England Under-19 at the 2018 World Cup, will go straight into his new side’s squad for the start of Monday’s County Championship clash with Leicestershire.
That game brings in the start of the Cheltenham Festival. Bamber has played three red-ball games for Middlesex so far this season, the most recent of which came against Gloucestershire last week.
He took part in the first innings of the game at Merchant Taylors' School, but was replaced by Tim Murtagh when the Irishman returned from interntional duty during the game.
In nine first-class games to date, he has taken 31 wickets at a healthy average of 24.29.
Richard Dawson, who has seen his team rocked by injuries to his seamers so far this season, said: "We are delighted to have Ethan in the squad.
“He played against us last week so we already know how we can potentially utilise him,” he added.
