Five members of Glamorgan's victorious Royal London Cup squad will leave the club at the end of the season.

Lukas Carey, Joe Cooke, James Weighell and Tom Cullen all played in the 58-run victory over Durham at Trent Bridge that clinched the club's first major trophy in 17 years.

Scotland international Ruaidhri Smith, who only played once during the run, is also confirmed to depart upon the end of his contract.

Though still in the race for promotion from LV= Insurance County Championship Division Two, Glamorgan failed to reach the knock-out phase in the One-Day Cup or T20 Blast.

"There are always tough decisions to be made when planning for the future and assessing the make-up of the squad going forward," said director of cricket Mark Wallace.

"All the players leaving have made significant contributions to the club and I would like to thank the players for their commitment to Glamorgan during their time here and everyone at the club wishes them the best for their future endeavours."

Right-armer Carey came through the club's academy, making his first-class debut aged 19 against Northamptonshire in 2016. He's made 70 appearances in all but has not figured during 2022.

Cooke joined in 2019 and has figured on 29 occasions, while Weighell arrived last year following spells at Durham and Leicestershire.

Western Australian Cullen played for Cardiff MCCU before joining Glamorgan in 2017 but has only played in 36 games across the formats.

Twenty-eight-year-old Smith has only made one senior outing this season, in the 50-over competition, having made his domestic debut at Sophia Gardens back in 2013. He exits having made 67 outings for the club.

The news follows confirmation Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne will return to the club for 2023 and 2024 seasons.
