Freddie Heldreich has signed a two-year deal with Northamptonshire.

The 21-year-old spinner made his debut for the club in 2021 T20 Blast and has gone on to take 21 wickets at 23.85 in 18 T20 appearances. 14 of those wickets came this season, with Heldreich finishing third in the club's wicket-taking charts.

He has also featured in five Royal London Cup matches for Northamptonshire, taking three wickets.

Commenting on his new contract, Heldreich said: "I'm really pleased to have signed a new contract at Northamptonshire.

"The last 18 months or so in the squad have been great and I'm buzzing to kick on now. I feel like I'm settling into my role in the side and hopefully there's a few more wickets to come for the Steelbacks."

Spin bowling coach, Graeme White, the club's all-time leading T20 wicket-taker, added: "He's a strike bowler and that's why he excels in T20 cricket because he's so dangerous.

"It will be great to see his progression in the next year or two and hopefully he can develop into playing 50-over and red-ball cricket for Northamptonshire too.

"We've been working together for a few years already and we've built up a really good relationship.

"He loves bowling and I think he's got a great attitude towards the game, he's keen to keep working and improving so I'm really glad that that relationship will continue."
