He will succeed Charlotte Edwards, who captained England Women, and become the 10th individual to hold the role.

Morgan, who retired from cricket in February 2023, made 379 international appearances for Ireland and England, scoring over 10,000 runs and captaining the latter to World Cup glory in 2019.

Over the course of his career, which included over 15 years at Middlesex and overseas stints in the IPL, PSL, CPL, Big Bash and SA20, he scored over 24,000 runs in 854 appearances in all formats.

Since retiring, he has become a regular commentator for Sky Sports.

"Having been a PCA member for 19 years, it gives me an overwhelming sense of gratitude and honour to be provided this prestigious opportunity," Morgan said.

In my opinion he was the best captain English cricket has ever had and the way things are going will ever have so it seems only right that he is elected to this position. The very best of luck to him.
