Ethan Brookes has described his Warwickshire departure as "bittersweet" as he prepares to make the switch to Worcestershire this winter.

Brookes, 22, has been at Warwickshire since he was nine years old, progressing through the county's development pathways to make his senior debut.

However, the allrounder has now agreed a move to New Road, having signed a two-year contract with the Pears.

The move makes sense, given many of his former coaches at various levels at Warwickshire - Alan Richardson, Kadeer Ali and Richard Jones - are all part of the Worcestershire setup, while former Bears sporting director Ashley Giles now fulfils a similar role at his new club.

"Warwickshire have helped me out massively so I've nothing but good words to say about everyone. It's bittersweet moving on but hopefully an exciting new chapter in my career," he said.

"I'm 100 per cent still a Bear for now and will be giving it my all, as I always do, to try and help the side win games. It would be great to leave on a high with a really good showing in the One-Day Cup."

Brookes has nine List A wickets and is yet to get off the mark in first-class cricket. He also offers plenty of potential with the bat, with a top score of 63 in limited-overs cricket.

His former Warwickshire teammate Adam Hose, who made the move to Worcester last year, played a role in the signing.

"He reiterated how good environment the environment was, and how much he is enjoying it," Brookes said.
