The batsman suffers a back spasm and is forced off the field during the One-Day Cup clash
Jason Roy has been forced to retire hurt with a back spasm while batting for Surrey in their Royal London One-Day Cup clash with Essex at The Oval.
The England batsman appeared to suffer the blow after the first delivery of the fourth over from Peter Siddles struck him on the thigh.
Roy limped gingerly to the non-striker's end and required several minutes of treatment from the Surrey physio team.
Despite facing three further deliveries from Siddle he was forced to retire on 16 at the start of the following over.

Will Jacks replaced the 26-year-old, who is expected to return to the crease later in the innings.
The news is the latest injury concern for Surrey and England, with Tom Curran missing the game due to a slight knee problem.
But Curran, 24, is expected to return in time for the visit of Middlesex in the 50-over competition on Thursday, April 25.
