Wood has played 76 times for his home county across all formats since making his debut 11 years ago
England fast bowler Mark Wood has signed a contract extension with Durham, keeping him at his home county until at least the end of the 2024 season.
Injuries prevented him from featuring for Durham in 2022 – he didn't play a single professional game between the third Test of England's tour of the Caribbean in March and the start of their white-ball winter – but he has since regained fitness to spearhead Jos Buttler's seam attack at the T20 World Cup.
Wood has played 76 times across all formats since making his debut 11 years ago, and he took 27 wickets when Durham last won the County Championship in 2013. As well as fitness issues, Wood's central contract status has also limited his appearances.
"I am really happy to be signing for another two years with Durham," he said. "I love playing here and whenever I get the chance to come back and play for the club it gives me great excitement.

"Whether it is stepping on the field with Durham or England it is always a special moment to be back home, I'll be looking forward to helping Durham win cricket matches in the near future, whenever I get the chance to put the shirt back on."
Marcus North, Durham's director of cricket, described Wood's passion for Durham as "infectious".
He added: "Although due to his international commitments we may not see him too often, whenever he does play for the club his influence on and off the field is extremely valuable."
