Durham have signed South Africa allrounder Tristan Stubbs for the T20 Blast.

The 22-year-old has earned a reputation as one of the cleanest hitters in the game.

Stubbs was part of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape side that won the inaugural SA20, where he was a teammate of new Durham teammate Brydon Carse.

"I'm really excited to join Durham for the T20 Blast this summer," he said. "I have spent some time with Brydon during the winter and he's only had good things to say about the club.

"I can't wait to get over to Durham and meet up with my new teammates. Having played in England last summer I know how much the fans love their cricket so it should be a really fun and successful summer."

Stubbs was part of the South Africa side that won a three-match T20I series in England last summer; he smashed a 28-ball 72 in his first international innings at Bristol.

That power has already taken him to the Indian Premier League with Mumbai Indians and The Hundred with Manchester Originals, where he replaced Wanindu Hasaranga as an overseas player.

Marcus North, Durham's director of cricket, added: "We are extremely pleased to have secured the signing of Tristan Stubbs. At 22, he already has experience playing for South Africa and in major T20 franchise leagues around the world where he has produced some world-class performances."

Stubbs is the latest addition in a busy winter for Durham, who signed Dutch allrounder Bas de Leede last week.
