Liam Hurt has joined Derbyshire on a short-term loan for their final LV= Insurance County Championship match of the opening batch of games.
Derbyshire face Nottinghamshire from May 19, and Hurt – the Lancashire seamer – effectively replaces Ryan Sidebottom in Mickey Arthur's squad.
Sidebottom has been on loan from Warwickshire but has suffered a recurrence of the hamstring injury that forced him off the field just seven balls into his debut against Middlesex on the season's first day.
The county have been beset with injury problems to their seamers, with Ben Aitchison struggling against a back problem and Luis Reece so far having played solely as a batter as he ramps up his own recovery.

"Liam is a good fast bowler with plenty of talent, so I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do for us this week," said Arthur.
Hurt has only played three first-class matches to date, but he added: "I'm keen to play more first-class cricket and there's a great setup at Derbyshire with Mickey Arthur and his coaching staff.
"The club have made a good start to the season and I hope to contribute this week and also test myself again in the red-ball format."
