David Lloyd will make a welcome return as part of Lancashire's live stream offering during the 2022 season.

The 75-year-old stood down from his role at Sky Sports in December after becoming embroiled in the racism scandal that engulfed English cricket.

Azeem Rafiq alleged that Lloyd tried to smear him in an effort to discredit his allegations of racism against Yorkshire. He later apologised for his actions.

Lloyd, a former England coach who played for Lancashire between 1965 and 1983, was a popular figure behind the mic at Sky before stepping down after 22 years.

But Lancashire have confirmed 'Bumble' will make a return, having been signed up "for a number of matches this season" starting with the LV= Insurance County Championship clash against Gloucestershire at Emirates Old Trafford, beginning on Thursday (April 21).

BBC Radio Lancashire's Scott Read leads the commentary of the live stream provided by the LancsTV YouTube channel, which provides multi-camera coverage of matches throughout the campaign.

Speaking to The Daily Mail at the start of April, Lloyd bemoaned what appeared to be a premature end to his on-screen career.

"My race has been run with Sky and there will be certain things I will miss after being involved in commentary across five decades," he said.

"Having fun and just being myself for a start. I know I've gone to the edge at times and used to be encouraged to do so. Our coverage used to be rock and roll, we were told to take risks.

"Now they have clawed things right back and it's absolutely taboo to say anything that can be misinterpreted. There can be no innuendo.

"One word out of place now and you will spend your life apologising for it. Therefore, it makes me chuckle that Andrew Strauss was knighted for calling Kevin Pietersen a c**t on air a decade ago, and now gets to select the England team!"
