Danny Lamb will move to Sussex at the end of his current contract with Lancashire.

The allrounder is Sussex's second signing this week, following the announcement that Leicestershire seamer Chris Wright will also move to Hove for 2024.

Lamb has signed a three-year contract and makes the switch in search of regular all-format cricket.

He has been in and out of the Lancashire team this season, and spent a short period on loan at Gloucestershire.

Lamb has only made 24 first-class appearances over the course of his six-year professional career, but has solid batting (27.8) and bowling (30.12) averages in red-ball cricket.

His T20 record is unremarkable, but he will add more experience to the Sussex dressing room which, until the arrival of current head coach Paul Farbrace, had been heavily criticised for being too raw.

Farbrace said of Lamb's acquisition:  "He is someone I've followed for a while and his all-round ability with bat and ball makes him a fantastic addition to our team.

"He comes from a club and environment at Old Trafford that expects to win, and I want him to bring that winning attitude with him."

Lamb will formally become a Sussex player at the end of the 2023 county season.

He said: "[It is] a brilliant new challenge and one which I feel has come at the right stage in my career.

"I've always enjoyed playing against Sussex and at Hove. I like what Sussex are about and the vision for the future with Paul Farbrace at the helm of a young ambitious squad."
