Eathan Bosch, already playing in the County Championship for the club, will replace the Australian allrounder for the remainder of the group stage
Essex have replaced Daniel Sams with Eathan Bosch for the remainder of the T20 Blast after last year's tournament MVP was ruled out with a knee injury.
Sams' third Blast stint at Chelmsford has been cut short after an issue sustained during an eight-wicket defeat by Sussex a fortnight ago.
He has since returned home to Australia, after the severity of the injury became clear.
"It is what it is," said the allrounder, who struggled to make the same impact in 2024 as in 2023, scoring just 33 runs in six matches, picking up seven wickets.
"I've been pretty lucky throughout my career with injuries, so I'll just have to go home now and recover as best as I can."

His injury is the latest blow for Essex, who have been without Sam Cook to a hamstring problem since late May. They lost Jordan Cox to surgery on his appendix during the recent County Championship defeat by Surrey. He is likely to be absent for the next chunk of Blast matches.
Bosch, therefore, steps in at an opportune moment. The South African initially signed for four County Championship fixtures, but he will now feature for the remainder of the Blast group stage as Essex, fourth in the South Group, look to cling onto a quarter-final berth.
Bosch has taken eight red-ball wickets in two matches so far for Essex; he featured for Pretoria Capitals in the SA20.
