What's the lowdown?

Nottinghamshire are in great form at the moment, and went top of Group 1 at the weekend.

They took 14 wickets on the final day to complete an exceptional innings-and-170-run victory over Worcestershire. In their last clash with Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire lost by three wickets as Tim Bresnan hit a superb 68 not out.

Warwickshire are coming off a draw with Essex, after only 28 overs were possible on day four. They currently sit fourth, as a tightly packed top five are separated by only 19 points.

Who's in form?

Paceman Luke Fletcher helped Nottinghamshire's win with a career- best 7 for 37 to see Worcestershire all out for 80 in their first innings. He then took another 3 for 20 in their second innings, finishing the game with 10 wickets.

In a contest that never truly got to unfold due to the weather, Danny Briggs and captain Will Rhodes were praised for their red-inkers. Michael Burgess and Rob Yates both got centuries in the first innings against Worcestershire the week before, which again ended in a draw due to the weather.

Who's said what?

Warwickshire captain Will Rhodes is well aware of the threat posed by the visitors.

“Notts are the in-form team and to win three games on the bounce from the position they were in is a great effort,” he said. “But every winning run has to end some time and hopefully that will be this week.”

“We can take confidence from having beaten them up at Trent Bridge where the guys really dug deep to put in a fantastic performance. It will be two confident teams going toe to toe and should be a really exciting game.

Nottinghamshire batsman Ben Duckett praised the feel-good factor among his Trent Bridge colleagues as their red-ball resurgence goes on.

After ending a three-year victory drought, Peter Moores’ men have won three consecutive games in impressive fashion.

In the most recent of those – an innings win over Worcestershire – Duckett struck an unbeaten century.

“It’s the best the atmosphere has been since I have been at the club in the four-day format,” he said.

“We aren’t going to always win, but while we are, we have got to keep doing what we are doing, and that is every one of us working hard to put performances in.”

Prediction?

Nottinghamshire need a win to create space between themselves and the rest of a tightly packed group. Warwickshire have a chance to climb the standings if they are able to get a win. The visitors have the momentum coming into this game and, even without Stuart Broad, we expect them to keep on rolling. Away win.
