The England seamer signs a new two-year contract with the LV= Insurance County Championship holders, but remains a fortnight away from a return
Warwickshire have secured a new two-year deal with England seamer Chris Woakes.
The 33-year-old will now remain with the Edgbaston club until 2024. An option is available to extend the arrangement by another 12 months.
Woakes, who has been associated with the club since 2006, has won two LV= Insurance County Championships, two One-Day Cups and a Blast title with the Bears.
Those domestic honours sit alongside an extensive international career, which includes having played 45 Tests, 106 one-day internationals and 16 T20Is.
"It was always a dream of mine to play at Edgbaston for the Bears when I started playing the game as a youngster," said the 2019 World Cup winner.
"The club has come a long way on and off the field since I made my first-class debut nearly 16 years ago.

"Edgbaston is now one of the best places in the world to play cricket and we’ve won multiple trophies across all formats. Playing a part in the final stages of last year’s Championship success was a very proud moment for me."
Woakes returned from the West Indies Test series with shoulder and knee injuries, but a return for the Championship match against Northamptonshire starting on May 12 has been pencilled in.
England are back in action in June when New Zealand arrive for three Tests. A multi-format player who featured at the T20 World Cup, the Ashes and in the Caribbean, Woakes is being given extra time to recuperate ahead of the busy summer, which India and South Africa are also scheduled to tour.
Director of cricket Paul Farbrace added: "Chris has played a lot of cricket across all three formats in the last couple of years, with much of this time spent in bubbles and away from home.
"It’s important that he can enjoy some time back at home with his family, rest up and come back strong ready to support our 2022 campaign before the international summer."
