Salter took 7 for 45, including four wickets in eight balls, to dismiss Durham's middle order as Glamorgan secured a draw in their first game of the season
Andrew Salter admitted to surprising himself after claiming career-best figures against Durham as Glamorgan secured a draw in their first LV= County Championship match of the new campaign.
Salter took 7 for 45, including four wickets in eight balls, to dismiss Durham's middle order.
His figures are the best for a Glamorgan spinner in almost 30 years, since Robert Croft took 8 for 66 against Warwickshire in 1992.
"I definitely didn't expect [to take seven wickets]," Salter told Glamorgan's official website. "It is just a mad game really isn't it."
"On a personal level it was really nice to take some wickets, it is feeling nice out of the hand so it is nice to pick up the reward, but I suppose I've bowled longer and better spells than that and not picked up the rewards."

"I can go either way, I have been on the other end of things where they come out and played some shots and they end up in the stands. It was pleasing to see them go straight up in the air and get a couple of wickets."
Salter's first five-wicket haul in the Championship came as Durham looked to hurry the run-rate along and produce a result in the rain affected fixture.
Despite his flurry of wickets, Glamorgan were the ones who ended up needing to bat for the majority of the final day to secure the draw.
"I think the way the boys played for the last half of the day was really good," said Salter after the match. "It was a shame we lost those early wickets, the way the guys regrouped was really promising."
Glamorgan will travel to Trent Bridge to play Nottinghamshire in their next outing from Thursday.
