Hampshire's 77-run defeat at Kent and their own 10-wicket win over Yorkshire ensured the trophy will reside at The Oval for the second time in five years
Surrey have won the 2022 LV= Insurance County Championship title.
Capitalising on Hampshire's 77-run defeat at the hands of Kent, Surrey wrapped up the title with one round to spare thanks to a resounding 10-wicket win over Yorkshire at The Oval.
On day three in London, Surrey bowled Yorkshire (following on) out for 208, Daniel Worrall picking up 4 for 61, before captain Rory Burns and Ryan Patel chased down 55 in just six overs. Burns was unbeaten on 30 (16), including dispatching the winning boundary, while Patel struck 19 runs off 21 balls.
Surrey last lifted the County Championship title in 2018 and have now won the trophy 21 times (one shared title in 1950). Only Yorkshire (33, one shared) have more County Championship crowns in their collection.

Burns' side are the only undefeated side across both divisions in 2022, winning eight and drawing five of their 13 matches en route to the title.
Surrey were pushed hard by second-placed Hampshire, who had won nine matches out of 12 heading into the penultimate round of fixtures.
Despite half-centuries from James Vince and James Fuller on day three, they couldn't chase down 378 in the second innings and were left to rue their first innings capitulation – they were bowled out for 57 – and defeats to Essex and Surrey earlier in the season.
They can, however, take consolation in winning the T20 Blast earlier in the season. Kent lifted the Royal London Cup last week at Trent Bridge.
Surrey will hope to maintain their unbeaten record when they conclude their season against Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford next week (September 26-29).
