Mohammad Abbas has re-joined Hampshire for the remainder of the LV= Insurance County Championship season.
The seamer formed a potent new-ball partnership with Kyle Abbott earlier this year, with the Pakistan international taking 27 wickets at 15.96 apiece, including a spell of 6 for 11 against Middlesex in April.
Due to quarantine regulations, Abbas will miss Hampshire’s clash with Yorkshire, which begins on Monday.
But he will be available for the last three games of the run-in, with Hampshire in the top division and seeking a first County Championship crown since 1973.
Even without him, the seam attack at James Vince’s disposal is well stocked, with Abbott having taken 43 wickets in the first half of the campaign. Brad Wheal has picked up 25 so far, while the experienced Keith Barker has claimed 20 scalps in six games.
In Abbas’ mid-season absence for a stint on duty with Pakistan, Colin de Grandhomme turned out twice in his place as the club’s second overseas player.
